In The Garage
Here is a continuation of my eclectic collection of YouTube subs. Some of them are very cool - some are nerdy. None are dull (to me at least). Jay Leno's Garage Maybe this is an obvious one. However what is great about Leno is that not only does he love cars, he loves to drive them, not just look at them. And he likes odd ball stuff, as well as exotica. I selected this episode because I remember a family friend having one of these and seeing it in the driveway, aged 9, and thinking it was the coolest car ever. It still looks amazing now. Smith & Sniff Its Jonny Smith again. This time with his mate, Richard Porter (who was for years a producer on Top Gear). This is basically two good mates who are both car nuts, driving around in a press car (generally eating food), car spotting and talking non-sense. You feel you are eves dropping in on two very funny mates. Porter is very quick witted, and a big F1 fan. Its a joy. Oh, and if you have ever come across the website Sniff Petrol, Porter was behind that. Smith and Sniff have moved onto podcasts now - so only older issues to watch, but lots to listen to. Sniff Petrol Sniff Petrol used to be (pre-YT days) my go to for satirical motoring updates, including beauties such as D.I. Blundell done report from the 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix | Sniff Petrol. Not updated much these days, but there are still gems in here such as Cookery Corner with Nigella Mansell, and Crazy Dave Coulthard columns, "Och eye the noo, muthaf****" The Crazy Dave articles are described as a race report from the jive talking fictionalised version of an in-joke so old no one can remember it. You get the idea of the sort of content it is. Its very English humour. Please share you favourite YT channels in the comments below

In The Garage
Where were we before YouTube? I have so many YouTube channel subscriptions. My wife's channels are all food related. Mine are all car and motorcycle related. Here's a few of my favourites, in no particular order. Harry's Garage Harry Metcalf was the founder of Evo, the UK magazine for petrol heads. Beautifully written, with great photography, and a by-line that was something like 'For the joy of driving'. For years I subscribed to this magazine, even after I had moved to New Zealand. I would drive exotica vicariously with Evo. Now Harry has retired, has a big garage stuffed with interesting cars and motorbikes and YouTube channel! He's driven his Testarossa to the Moroccan desert, his Rolls Royce Silver Cloud (might have been a Shadow) to the Northern Lights, and his Lotus Esprit to a James Bond collection in the Alpes. His collection of cars includes a few left-field choices including a Fiat 500, and a brace of Paris-Dakar inspired big thumpers. The Late Brake Show Jonny Smith used to be a writer for Max Power (a UK modders mag), and a presenter on Fully Charged. Now he has an eclectic show, not to mention a left field choice of cars. His garage has a Nissan Figaro (his wife's), a new Suzuki Jimny, a Dodge Charger and a Beetle. Oh, and an Austin Allegro 3 door (!) with a 2.7 V6 engine shoehorned into it. The best bit? It looks stock, complete with 1970's sludge green paintwork and steel wheels. Enjoy! More to follow ✌
